The Appalachian Prison Book Project is based in Morgantown, WV, and we send books to prisons in several states, but our outreach is not limited to those spaces. For instance, in the past we have donated books to a reading project for the children of incarcerated persons located in Kentucky, and just this past weekend one of our lovely volunteers, Elizabeth, took a load of books down to the Dismas House, a halfway house for persons transitioning from prison to independent life and located in the Charleston, WV, area. The books were donated to the women’s lounge and were very much appreciated. Many thanks to all of our book donors who made this possible, and of course to Elizabeth who drove this load of books downstate, as well!
