When our volunteers mail a book to someone in prison, we encourage them to write a short note to send along with the package. Now it’s your turn to send a holiday message of your own to people on the inside!
From November 28 until December 5, take part in our Sponsor an Incarcerated Reader fundraiser to directly support reading in prison. With every $10 donation, we will send a free book to a person incarcerated in Appalachia and include a personalized note of your choice.
Here’s how to participate:
- Donate $10 to APBP via PayPal.
- After entering the donation amount, select “What’s this for?” or the option to add a note.
- Write “Sponsor an Incarcerated Reader fundraiser.”
- Write an optional brief message (25 words or less).
- Add your name or the name of a loved one to the same text box (or you can choose to remain anonymous).
We will mail a book and your holiday message to an imprisoned reader on your behalf. If you are interested in sponsoring multiple readers, please indicate any special instructions in the note.
Our goal for this year’s fundraiser is $2,500—or 250 holiday messages sent to folks who need it most.
